Cauliflower:
Brassicas oleraceae Var . botrytis
Family: Cruciferae( Brassicaceae)
• Cole crops are Cauliflower, cabbage , Knol Khol , Broccoli
All Cole crops are developed from wild crop colewarts from which 'Cole' is derived.
Varieties: Two groups
a) Seeds are freely produced in plain
1) Very Early - Early Kunwari
2) Early : Pusa Deepali , Pant Shubhra
3) Mid : Improved Japanese , Pusa Shubhra
4) Mid late : Pusa synthetic , D- 96
b) Temperate / European type which require chilling
v) Late : Snowball -16 , Pusa snowball -1,2 , K-1

Pusa Hybrid -2 , IAHS - 12 , 18
∆ Types of Cauliflower Curd:
a) Ricy / Fuzzy :
Curd becomes granular , loose and sometimes velvetty appearance due to climatic conditions and somwhat genetical chracter or delayed harvesting.
b)Leafy:
Apperance of green leaves in the segment of cauliflower curd
c) Perfect:
Solid , compact , all parts are well arranged
✓ Physiological disorder
a) Browning :
Curd becomes brown and stem becomes hollow due to deficiency of Boron
b)Whiptail:
No development of curd , leaves become thick , green and leathery due to deficiency of Molybdenum
c) Blindness: In early stage , terminal bud dies either due to mechanical injuryv or insects or low temp
d) Buttoning:
Formation of miniheads or button like curds due to N- deficiency or transplanting of old aged seedling .
